Teaching English volunteer program

Program Description
Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Nepal is a very fun and rewarding way to make a real contribution to some of the local people. Teaching English to the children in Nepal can at times be challenging, but seeing their progression and enthusiasm make the overall experience extremely satisfying. The volunteers will get the opportunity to teach students who are eager to improve their conversational English skills. Volunteers in this program will teach English to children in Nepali schools; where qualified, you can also teach in other disciplines such as math, science, music, geography, art, dance, etc.
The students can range from 5-16 years old, in classes of around 20-40 students. You will be teaching from the Nepali school curriculum. However, volunteers are also encouraged to create their own lesson plans; lots of inspiration for classes can be found online as well. Each institution has its own permanent staff member who assists volunteers with their teaching and in communicating with the children and colleagues. Classes generally run six days a week, with four to six class periods each day and a break for lunch.
Teaching English includes: Teaching English at a community school, orphanage, monastery, women's group or in a community library or youth club.
Requirements: There are no specific requirements for the program other than fluency in written and spoken English. However the best things you can have are patience and a genuine desire to teach and help the children.
Duration: 1 week to as long as you want.
Initial date: Any day you want because all our volunteer programs and activities runs throughout the year.
