Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal with around 4 million inhabitants. In addition to seeing the historic and cultural sites from the comfortable and homely base of the mero (Ghar) house (where all Flynepal's volunteers stay whilst in Kathmandu). We also place volunteers in the rural areas around the Kathmandu valley; all of the villages are located within an hour of the center of Kathmandu. The villages combine a developed infrastructure, with water readily available and the peace and quiet of the countryside. Most have a few shops, where you can get bottled water, stationery, local phone services and any additional treats you require. For international calls and internet access, you can go to the city at the weekend.

Pokhara
Pokhara is a beautiful city on the banks of the Phewa Lake, it is set against the panoramic backdrop of the Annapurna range and the Fishtail Mountain. It is the gateway to numerous treks in the Annapurna Sanctuary Area. The city is well developed with excellent phone and internet access, all kinds of restaurant and a myriad of gift shops. It is 200 km away from Kathmandu in the mid-western region of Nepal and sits at an altitude of 900 m, meaning a warmer climate than in Kathmandu. To get there takes 6 hours by bus or around 20 minutes by air. We can place volunteers in the mountain areas around the Pokhara valley. Chitwan
Chitwan is located 146 km to the South West of Kathmandu you can travel there in approximately five hours by bus or it is only 20 minutes by plane, the Chitwan region is very famous for its National Park, which is part of Nepal's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Thousands of tourists visit the Chitwan National Park every year for jungle safaris and wildlife research. There is telephone, fax and internet access available and a post office. It is in the warm and tropical Terai region with a fascinatingly diverse collection of local cultures. Your placement can be arranged at a school, health center, community library, youth club or in an orphanage .Your place of work will be a maximum of 15-20 minutes' walk from the host family accommodation.
Placement in Chitwan
Torikhet - Small village with clean air. It is about 30 minutes by drive and 7 kilometers and far from the main city Narayanghat. In Narayanghat you can use internet and phones. In the weekend .....learn more
Nawalparasi
Next to Chitwan , simply once we cross a big bridge, you can get to Nawalparsi. Mostly, Nawalparasi area is covered almost 75 percent of area by forest ,15 percent by water and rest by human civilisation. As compared to Chitwan and Pokhara, this part has-not develop much and still people are dying of hunger and starvation.
Nawalparasi is the main target of Flynepal,s next project for skill development, empowerment of women and organic farming in mountain areas.
As per natural status, Nawalparasi is full of mountains, forest and rivers and lakes.
The most attractive place of Nawalparasi is the birth place of Gautam Buddha i.e. Lumbini.

Dhulikhel
Location: Dhulikhel lies along the B.P Highway and Arniko Highway. Arniko Highway connects Kathmandu, Nepal''s capital city with Tibet''s border town of Kodari. Dhulikhel is located near the Himalayas at 1550 m above sea level and is situated 30 km southeast of Kathmandu and 74 km southwest of Kodari.
Climate: In November and December the weather is normally very clear and tropical-hot during the days but chilly and even cold in the evenings and nights.We therefore recommend light cotton clothing, sun-protection lotions as well as a rain coat and/or umbrella and a sweater or a jacket for colder nights.Comfortable walking shoes and sandals or slippers are also advisable.
